Turkey’s industrial production growth decelerated to 1.1% year-on-year in January 2024 from a revised 2.3% in the previous month. This was the softest growth since June 2023, as output slowed for manufacturing (0.4% vs 2.8% in December 2023). Conversely, production increased at a faster pace for mining and quarrying (4.9% vs 0.4%) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (8.4% vs 3.5%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity stalled in January, following a revised 2.8% rise in the prior month.

Turkey Industrial Output Growth Accelerates in December
Turkey’s industrial production growth accelerated to 1.6% year-on-year in December 2023 from a downwardly revised 0.1% rise in the previous month. It was the highest reading in three periods, driven by a faster increase in output for manufacturing (2.1% vs 0% in November). Meanwhile, production declined for the first time in six months for mining and quarrying (-1.2% vs 3.6%), while output growth was unchanged for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (4.5%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity advanced 2.4%, marking the first rise since June and rebounding from a 1.4% decline in November.
